6 Tech Companies Poised to Benefit from the Anthropic IPO
September 3, 2026 | Research Insights
When Anthropic makes its highly anticipated public debut, the listing won't just unlock value for the frontier AI lab itself – it will also lead to huge financial gains for a number of technology companies. From hyperscalers to niche software firms, a range of businesses have invested in the AI company since its inception in 2021.
Here, we are going to highlight six tech companies that have invested in Anthropic since it was founded. When the AI powerhouse goes public, all of these businesses will likely reap significant financial returns from their early strategic investments.
Amazon
Amazon is Anthropic’s largest strategic backer. To date, it has invested $13 billion in the company1.
Its first investment came in September 2023 when Anthropic was valued at a little over $4 billion2. This investment was worth $4 billion (this capital was deployed in two tranches with $1.25 billion paid upfront and the remaining $2.75 billion paid in early 2024).
The company then made another $4 billion in November 20242. This was shortly before Anthropic was valued at $60 billion.
More recently, the tech giant extended its partnership with Anthropic in April of this year as part of the company’s Series H funding round, which valued the firm at $965 billion. This involved an immediate $5 billion capital injection with up to $20 billion in milestone funding3.
As a result of all these investments, Amazon has a significant stake in Anthropic today. While its exact stake isn’t disclosed, the general consensus is that it owns around 15-20% of the AI company4.
So, Amazon is likely to be a major beneficiary of the IPO. If Anthropic comes to the market at its rumored $2 trillion valuation5, the tech giant is looking at significant gains on its investments.

Alphabet
Alphabet subsidiary Google has been another major backer of the AI firm since its inception. Like Amazon, it owns a significant proportion of the frontier lab today – its stake is estimated at 14%4.
Google’s first investment in Anthropic came in February 2023 when the company was valued at around $2.9 billion2. This was for $300 million.
It then made investments of $2.0 billion and $1.0 billion in October 2023 and January 2025 respectively2. At the time of the latter investment, Anthropic was valued at around $60 billion.
In April of this year, it came to light that Google was planning to invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic. This deal involved an initial $10 billion investment from the tech giant with the remaining $30 billion contingent on certain performance milestones6.

Microsoft
In a surprise move in late 2025, Microsoft invested $5 billion in Anthropic7. It made this move to diversify its AI portfolio alongside its OpenAI backing.
This capital was included in Anthropic’s February 2026 Series G funding fund. This funding round valued the AI firm at $380 billion8.
Nvidia
Another tech company that participated in the February 2026 Series G funding round was Nvidia. It made an investment of $10 billion7.
This deal saw Nvidia and Anthropic establish a deep technology partnership to support Anthropic’s future growth. The aim of this partnership was to optimize Anthropic models for the best possible performance and efficiency, while also optimizing future Nvidia architectures for Anthropic workloads.
Zoom
Video communications firm Zoom invested $51 million in Anthropic during its Series C funding round in May 20232. This investment was made via its Zoom Ventures arm.
While this was a relatively small investment, it looks set to be extremely lucrative for the company. Because at the time of Zoom’s investment, Anthropic was only valued at $4.1 billion2 – a fraction of its current valuation.
Salesforce
Finally, we have Salesforce. It has participated in multiple funding rounds via its Salesforce Ventures investment arm.
Its initial investment was $50 million in May 20239, however, since then, it has made further investments. According to reports, its stake could be worth around $5 billion today10.
